Maxwell's Quality Management System
Reinforces
Commitment To Deliver Defect-Free Products,
Life of the System Reliability
ISO 9001:2000 Certification
Validates Company's Microelectronics
Design, Manufacturing and Operational Processes
SAN
DIEGO, CA Maxwell
Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: MXWL) announced today that its Microelectronics
Group has been certified to International Organization for Standardization
(ISO) 9001:2000 standards.
Michael Everett, Maxwell's vice president,
technology systems, said that the company has implemented this and
other quality-enhancement initiatives in all of its operations,
creating a quality foundation that reflects Maxwell's goal of providing
products that are defect-free and perform reliably for the life
of its customers' applications.
"Maxwell is committed to delivering
ever-improving value to customers and continuous improvement of
the entire company's organizational capabilities and performance,"
Everett said. "We have established strict quality assurance
standards and a Quality Management System that satisfy or exceed
the ISO requirements, and we are pursuing ISO and other relevant
industry certifications for all of our product lines."
This certification confirms that Maxwell's
microelectronics design, manufacturing and other operational processes
and the company's Quality Management System meet the high standard
demanded by the ISO. In October, the microelectronics product line
qualified for inclusion in the Qualified Manufacturers Listing (QML)
by earning the QML class "Q" certification granted by
the Defense Supply Center, Columbus, Ohio. The QML certification
and listing confirm that Maxwell's processes meet demanding military
specifications (MIL-PRF-38535) for quality and reliability.
Maxwell's microelectronic products include
radiation-mitigated power modules, memory modules and single board
computers that primarily address applications in aerospace.
ISO 9001:2000 is the international quality
system standard that was revised in the year 2000 to ensure that
registered companies provide increased value through applying documented
continual improvement processes. Five primarily process-based sections
replaced the original twenty ISO elements of the previous ISO 9001
standard. The revised standard applies to all sectors, products,
and organizations.
Maxwell sells reliability. We develop, manufacture
and market electronic components and systems that perform reliably
for the life of the applications into which they are integrated.
In addition to our microelectronic products, we manufacture and
market BOOSTCAP(R) ultracapacitors and ultracapacitor-based energy
storage systems that uniquely address applications in transportation
and consumer and industrial electronics, as well as high-voltage
grading and coupling capacitors that are used in electric utility
infrastructure and other applications involving transport, distribution
and measurement of high voltage electrical energy. For more information,
